THE BEGINNING
This is my first entry, and I’ll keep it short for anyone curious. Honestly this is not a very crazy story. I grew up surfing with my buddies starting at 13, always the laid-back “coastal kid.” After school in Santa Barbara, I moved to Venice with this itch to start a brand. I wanted it to be something bold—something crazy. Humor’s always been my thing; it sticks. Naming my brand, though? Not easy. The more you force it, the further you drift from something you actually vibe with. So, I told myself I’d let it come to me. One later afternoon, I was sprawled on my couch watching a movie. I can’t recall which one; I’d swear it was Wedding Crashers. Anyway, there was a boat in the film, and you know how sailors name their boats—like “Reel Lady” or whatever? Well, someone said, “The name of my boat is My Big Fat Wet Dream,” and it hit me. I thought, “Screw it, I’ll call my brand Wet Dreams Surf Club.” I’d been kicking around the idea of a surf-inspired thing, and that was it. So dumb, right? But inspiration’s weird—you never know where it’ll strike.
